Ms. Tilley's Classroom Expectations
Sculpture Fundamentals
In this class we will explore the art of various artists in order to learn basic fundamentals. As we learn the fundamentals you will apply them to your own creative sculptures. As a class we will also learn basic critique skills and terms during class critiques. But most of all we will enjoy the creative and fun world of sculpture!! Remember to think outside the box!
Philosophy of Teaching
Everyone has an artist within themselves that is just waiting to find a way out. You will find some mediums and techniques that you struggle with and others that you excel at. Your job is to explore your options and think creatively through both the struggles and successes. As the teacher I must give you the opportunities to explore new techniques and materials. As a guide through these techniques and materials we will cover in this class I also take into consideration your interests as the student. So please let me know if there is a specific material or technique you want to learn about and explore. We are here to grow together with the goal to become a better artist and a better person. So lets begin to explore the world of sculpture and grow together as a class.

Clean Up/Continuous Improvements in the Classroom
Clean the immediate area where you worked everyday and help keep the rest of the classroom neat, clean, and in order. If you find a better way to clean, store or organize lets talk about it and find the best solution to implement. If it bugs you let us work together to fix it. Materials and tools are much easier to find when they have a home they are consistently taken back to.
Supplies
The school has put together kits with all the materials you will need for this class. However, you are not required to purchase these kits from the school, but you are responsible for all supplies needed. It is your responsibility to take care of and keep track of all your supplies. I am not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Music & Cell Phones
Music can be played during work time in class, but headphones must be removed during all lectures, class discussions, critiques, and any other times requested by the instructor. Cell phones may be used in class for music only! No texting, videos, etc.
Absences
FRHS Tardy and Attendance Policy will be enforced. No exceptions!
Food and Drink
No Food is allowed in the studio. Drinks in containers that can be closed securely are allowed in studio space.
Late Work
Partial credit is better than no credit. The only way to get an A in this class is to turn everything in. I will take off .5 of a point for everyday it is late. I will allow you to rework up to 3 projects in the semester if you have turned it in for a partial score within a week of the due date. You may also choose up to 2 projects to rework. These are projects you wish to improve your grade on that were turned in on time.
